news

The boys are doing great. They are getting so big. Nicholas, especially, seems to get bigger every day.
Jonathan is working toward getting ten sections done in AWANA first, so he can win a book bag.
Daniel lost 3 pounds and gained 2 inches since the last time he saw the dr. (about 6 months ago).
Nicholas is picking up on writing and math really well. He is able to do the math questions in his head, mostly.
Jeff is good. The business is doing well. He's staying busy.
I'm okay. Today I drove by St. Joe's and that made me sad. Then I got a call confirming my tubal ligation, and THAT made me sad.
You know, sometimes we women don't realize how our husbands (or boyfriends or fiances) protect us from stuff. Jeff is hurting, I know that. Yet he still takes really good care of me - even to the point of making it so I don't remember stuff too often. It's not like we're trying to block out the memories or anything, they just hurt to think about. I'm glad to have Jeff. I've been reading these vampire books and the boys in them want to protect the girl and that made me think. That's really all we (girls) want. We want to be protected - treasured - loved. Isn't that what everyone wants?

totally funny

Did you like the debate tonight? I did. I had to hang up on a friend so I could listen to it. That says a lot, as I really like my friends (especially the ones who read my blog).
Anyways, Jeff sent me this, so I, of course, had to share it with you. Fans of Jeff DunHAM (you have to say it right) will understand best of all.

just a funny photo. it made me laugh out loud (literally) when I saw it.

side note ~ have finished "New Moon" and am reading "Eclipse" now. The story is good, even though it is written for teenagers. It's not Austen, but then, that is a harsh comparison. :) I do appreciate that Edward doesn't understand Bella's fascination with "Wuthering Heights". The story would be better if at least one of them (Heathcliff or Cathy) had SOME redeeming quality (now Kamali is going to tell me what those are ...). Personally, I find the Brontes too depressing. "Villette" depressed me for days. I couldn't believe the ending in that one. Although, "Villette" is more true to life than some stories. I'll stick to the Elizabeths and Darcys, though.

Morning musings

Maybe I should go back to that 100 Days of Blogging thing. I'm certainly over my quota for the past couple days!
You know what I'd really like? If Blogger was a little more like Xanga and you could put what you are listening to, reading or playing on your post. That would be cool. I'm listening to "Sugar Sugar" right now, and I am reading New Moon, the second book in this series about vampires.
So last night I started and finished Twilight. It was good, even though I knew Edward was a vampire because Morgan & Christina had already told me. :) And Mel - she is really into these books, too.
The book was good - it kept my attention.
I forgot why I started to write this blog post. that's sad. I'm only 33.
It's October 1st. Usually around this time the fog/mist rolls in to Tacoma. I usually take a walk in the fog - I love it. I love summer here, but I love fall more. I do miss the trees changing color, but out here something interesting happens. Since all the trees don't change color, the ones that do seem more vibrant and they make the others more vibrantly verdant. (been reading - see?!) Last fall we had a lot of yellows and oranges. There was a tree at the Garden, though, that was spectacularly red/orange. I'd never seen a tree so deep and bright - maybe due to the fact that it was surrounded by green and that made it stand out even more.
Okay - I need to actually get to work now. The natives are restless. :o)

news flash

well, okay - I have two tidbits of news, or, more correctly, one tidbit of news and one tidbit of opinion. :)
The news first - I've started reading Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (thanks Mel, Christina & Morgan). I'm only on chapter 3. I'll keep you posted as to how I like it.
The opinion - I posted that blog earlier today and said that I should stop writing before I started ranting & just ragged on Obama. I got to thinking this evening and I said something to Jeff about that. He made the comment that the way I felt (not wanting to just be mean and tear down Obama) was the way a lot of Republicans felt and so they just don't say anything. Meanwhile, the Democrats have this whole machine out there making stuff up, not caring who they hurt. Maybe Republicans should be stronger and say what they think. It is possible to say what you think without tearing someone down. Sometimes, though, it seems that the facts are so harsh that we feel like we are being mean when we state them. In reality, it is mean (or harmful) to not state the facts. Both sides of the issues need to be stated in order for us to make an informed decision.
I've said this before in regard to abortion. We talk about a woman's choice, but when it comes down to it, a woman is rarely (if ever) told by a pro-choice person what will happen if she aborts the baby. Women are told their lives will be easier and everything will be okay if they have an abortion. They are not told about the pain involved, or about the guilt they may feel, or the phantom cries they might hear, or even about the danger to their bodies that can occur. How can a woman make an informed decision without knowing all these things?
How then can we, as American voters, make informed decisions about our leaders if we do not know all the facts? Republicans need to stand up and state the facts - even if they are only "as we know them" at least another facet will be being discussed.

Side note ~
Did you know that the moderator for the debate between Joe Biden & Sarah Palin is a staunch Obama supporter who stands to make a lot of money if he wins? I'll be watching to see if she is unbiased in her treatment of the candidates.

Last day of September

Well, it has been over a month now since we lost the baby. Life has gotten back to normal - sort of.
I still haven't ordered the kids' curriculum, but am hoping to get that finalized today.
We've missed church the past couple weeks - once due to being sad and once due to our friends coming for a visit.
Mel & Nate and their kids came up from Cali for a visit this weekend. It was really nice to see them and visit. Our kids got along real well. Daniel was quite sad this morning because Keagan wouldn't be coming over to play. :(
We also got to reconnect with a friend who lives in Tacoma, but we haven't seen in a few years. He lives by our church and may come and visit it! :) There's a funny story there, but I don't think it would translate well to the world wide web, so I'll leave it out.
Today we are doing school and housework. I have been getting on the Wii Fit more often. Now I actually need to exercise with it! It said I gained 2 pounds over the weekend. :( It was all the eating out!! But I think we're tired of eating out now. :) So we'll be saving money and getting slimmer.
Jeff & I are kind of bummed - Obama has been up (like 8 points) in the polls recently. While we know that "the heart of the king is in the hand of the Lord", we still really don't want Obama for President. There are a myriad of reasons - he's unqualified, he lies, he kills babies, and he won't keep us safe. There are more reasons behind each of those reasons, but I don't feel like going into those right now. However, I don't understand how so many Americans can be so wishy-washy to not know who they are going to vote for!! Seriously - it's pretty simple. You either want someone who believes life is valuable (in more ways than one) or you want someone who believes that only certain peoples' lives are valuable and others are expendable "for the greater good".
I'm going to start ranting and ripping on Obama if I don't stop here, so I am going to stop. Hope you all have a be-oooo-tiful day.

iVillage weighs in

This morning I saw a free offer on slick deals and I clicked on it. iVillage was offering a free razor. After filling out the form, I was taken to the iVillage homepage. One of their little boxes asked who I thought won the debate on Friday night. After hearing that Obama was up in the polls again, I thought I would check it out. See what the general public thinks and all.
Disappointment over the naivete of people! I don't know how someone could watch that debate and think Obama came out ahead. Even Combs (a FOX News commentator) had to say the outcome was a tie - Obama did not wow anyone in the news realm, even his staunch supporters.
Someone on iVillage said Obama came out stronger on the economy, which could explain why he is up in the polls now, but when asked by Leher, Mr. Obama said he'd add programs, not cut them! We're overextended as it is, how could adding programs be better?!
The debate was good. McCain talks like a president and the things he says make me feel safer.
Why is it that all of Sarah Palin's life is on the front page when nothing Obama or Biden have done is being talked about? Biden has been in the Senate for most of his career (he became a senator at 26, I think) and hasn't managed to live within his means this whole time. He has a housing allowance, a car, and great medical insurance. Yet he has been unable to give any money away due to being in debt. Is this the kind of person we want supporting our President? And as for Obama, he is supported by Bill Ayers. Ayers hosted Obama's first fundraiser. You can find pictures of Ayers standing on the American flag. Other issues may seem more important, but when you look at Obama's life, you see he really doesn't like America. Having anything to do with Ayers speaks volumes. Listen to Mr. Obama's wife and you'll see he doesn't like America. Obama practically said we brought on 9-11 because we weren't a nice enough country.
Anyways, I'll quit ranting. I just get frustrated when people only see what they want to see and overlook important things - like loving America, keeping babies alive and how you spend money.
