I am so un-original ...
The title of this post was going to be "Freaky Friday", but it's not really a freaky day at all. This realization brought me to the conclusion that I am just THAT unoriginal. :o)
The boys are eating their breakfast right now & I am drinking my coffee. I'm trying it black for a while, to see if I can get used to it. Lorelai & Rory drink it black, and they are sticks, so it must be good, right?
This morning was oatmeal for Daniel & Nicholas. Nicholas came out, climbed up in his chair, looked at his oatmeal and said, "you put raisins (this word was a little hard to understand) in me oatmeal!"
"You'd like raisins in your oatmeal?"
"Uh-huh."
"Say 'please'."
"Plleeease." (with a big ol' cheesy grin)
"Say, 'please may I have raisins on my oatmeal.'"
"Please raisins my oatmeal." :o)
Nicholas learned today that Mommy is not his maid, cook or whatever to order around! :o) He's SO CUTE!!
So Tina & I made that pact, you know, to count calories and exercise. I am really enjoying this. Except for on Tuesday, when I was losing it (soooo frazzled by children) and I made mashed potatoes. Jef got a phone call with his wife almost in tears on the other end.
"I don't know how many calories are in the potatoes!!" (and I was SO hungry)
"Ok, well, how many calories do you have left?"
"I don't know, 1000, I think."
"Well eat a cheeseburger then!!"
I like the freedom to choose to eat something (like Cheezits) and work it into my daily count. It makes me feel like I am not depriving myself, which is good, because when I deprive myself, I can't do it.
Now to start exercising regularly. :o) Oh, I handed in the paperwork for the Y, so we'll know by next Wednesday or so on that.
Yesterday was such an eventful day. Jef went to work, and was told by his supervisor that he is now allowed to drive participants again. He had been unable to drive anyone due to the accident he'd been in back in Feb. of 2004. It took us a while to figure that one out. Anyways ... that was good news. Then Jef was called to a special meeting where they (his supervisors) told him that the tenant support program that he works for is being sold by Evergreen Healthcare. There is a 98% chance that a place called ResCare will take over. There will almost definitely be pay cuts and they may not get bought, and thus lose their jobs. Jef's boss, Mary, said she was trying to make it so their seniority would transfer over. This company also has places in Seattle & Tacoma. So, if they do take over, Jef is wondering if he couldn't transfer to here - that would eliminate a 30-minute commute & save on gas. We'll have to wait & see what God does. In the meantime, Jef is going to be working on getting more computer jobs, like those he does for Tina's work.
So you all can keep us in prayer. These next few weeks seem full of things - I was going to say 'worries', but I am trying not to worry & leave things in God's hands. :)
Thank you for reading ... sorry these are always so long!
Amazon.com: Kitchen & Housewares: KitchenAid KHM9PWH 9-Speed Professional Hand Mixer, WhiteThis is the mixer we are getting in the mail! It's a cool story, though, so I will tell it. We were originally going to get this mixer -
click here. This red mixer would match my stand mixer. It was $64.99 on Amazon. We ordered that originally, and the delivery date was set for mid-June. On a whim, Jef looked at the 9-speed PROFESSIONAL mixer. Lo & behold, it was CHEAPER than the red one! A more powerful, professional mixer for $10 less. We couldn't resist, so we cancelled our original order and ordered the 9-speed. It only comes in white, but that's ok. :) Anyways, thought you'd like to know.
Just another manic Monday ...
Ok, so it isn't really a manic Monday. In fact, it is actually pretty relaxing. The sun is shining, I am chatting with my niece, the boys & Daddy are playing Paper Mario, the baby is sleeping ... Life is good.
Yesterday Debbie & I went down to Vancouver to Sarah's baby shower. The previous pictures of the basket with the little giraffe were to show my present. I had fun putting that together for Sarah. Everyone liked the little giraffe, he was so soft. :)
The shower was a lot of fun. We played games & Sarah received lots of presents. She has everything she needs now for the baby. The Dr. told her he wouldn't let her go past two weeks, so this baby is coming soon.
In other news, Tina & I have made a pact. We are counting calories and exercising and keeping each other accountable. :) I am hoping this will help me because I need to lose weight so I can play better with the boys.
Today we are going to go to the Y and see if we can get a membership. The Y has swimming, gymnastics, martial arts, rock climbing and tumbling classes (these would be for Nicholas) for free with membership. :) Since we would be spending money to have them in classes & I would like to join a gym, the Y seems to be a good blend - the boys could take the lessons they need & I would have a place to work out. They also have homeschool classes - P.E. & swimming. So pray that this works out.
I think that is all for now. Still reveling in not having to go to the store to shop this week. :-D
